Course: HIST 3670 Imperial Spain and the Atlantic World (3 credits); HIST 3470 Ancient and Medieval Spain (3 credits)
Cost: ~$4,520 (Includes airfare, transportation, lodging, meals, events)

Course: This course explores the rise of imperial Spain and the Spanish conquests of the Atlantic World from the 1400s to the demise of the Spanish Empire in the 1800s. The course will consider how the Spanish empire became politically, socially, and economically consolidated; how and why they led the exploration of the Americas; how they established their vast tributary system; and how their empire declined. The highlight of this course will be a two-week study-trip to Spain during May during which students will visit Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Madrid, and other Spanish cities.
