Trip Description:

This trip aims to introduce students to Africa by exploring what many consider to be the cultural, political and increasingly economic center of Africa: Ethiopia. Ethiopia is a dynamic and fascinating country and is an oasis of stability in a turbulent neighborhood. This trip explores the foundations of Ethiopian politics as well as looking at Ethiopia's role as the capital of Africa. Activities will include a trip to the African Union and UN headquarters, the U.S. mission in Ethiopia, the Museum of The Red Terror and a local village/school to develop a formal PC link in Ethiopia.

Tentative Itinerary:
May 13th: Fly to Ethiopia
May 14th: Arrive in Ethiopia, Rest
May 15th: Tour of Addis AM, Museum of the Red Terror
May 16th: Tour of African Union Headquarters/ Meeting with U.S. Mission Staff
May 17th: Meeting/Tour of UN African Headquarters
May 18th: Depart Addis for Gambela, Arrive in Gambela
May 19th: Tour Gambela National Park, leave for Dembī Dolo
May 20th: Work with school in Dembī Dolo (Service component)
May 21st: Work with school in Dembī Dolo (Service component)
May 22nd: Depart Gambela for Addis
May 23rd: Day at leisure, 2nd test in PM
May 24th: Depart for U.S., Arrive 25th
