Program in Brief

“Internationalization in Lingnan is not about just sending more students going abroad and receiving more incoming students or recruiting more international students. This would be doing the same thing in a slightly enlarged way. Lingnan espouses the view that internationalization is about creating a multicultural campus environment where people from diverse background could come together to learn, share and experience. It is about enhancing personal growth, independence, language skills, cultural awareness, confidence and global view in our students while they are overseas and on campus.

For international students, you will find that Lingnan provides a caring and personal atmosphere to pursue rigorous and intellectually challenging academic work. At the same time, international students will find that Hong Kong is an amazing place which remarkably combines both East and West cultures for the most diverse and rich experience.”

Lingnan’s orientation “is a warm welcoming program where you will meet your Buddies; get to know more fellow students; learn a bit of the local language; get familiar with the campus; its facilities as well as the neighborhood areas. There will be some excursions for you to explore Hong Kong and its culture as well.”

Housing and Meals

“Approximately 1,500 of Lingnan’s 2,000 students reside in the student hostels. Each room is a double occupancy and exchange students will not be living with another exchange student. Hostels are divided up by gender with all males living on the first floors and females residing on the second floors. All rooms have two LAN points for access to the university’s network. There are a total of six hostels—all of which are fully air-conditioned. Each floor has a small pantry and shared bathroom/shower facilities. Each hostel has its own warden, senior tutors and tutors who look after the welfare of their residents as well as plan various activities throughout the year.

The University does not operate any meal plan, mandatory or optional. Students can dine where they want, on or off campus.
