Program Description

Math 258 - Adventures in Mathematics: Symmetry in Northwest England
(Prerequisite: Completion of Mathematics General Education Requirement)

This course will study the fascinating mathematical topic of symmetry. We will study the definition of symmetry, the mathematics behind symmetry, and try to find it in the world around us. There will be field trips to sites of British heritage and British interest to see how symmetry and pattern manifests itself in nature, in architecture, in art, and in the mind of man. Be prepared for some hands on projects and learning mathematics in a way that you might never have expected.

Note: No prior knowledge of the subject is assumed. This course is suitable for any PC student. This course will be a mostly hands on, group oriented course. It is aimed at a very general audience and no student should feel intimidated by the title of the course or the material. If you have any reservations or questions feel free to talk to me Dr. Doug Daniel at ddaniel@presby.edu or in my office HP 413 most any afternoon. My motto is “Math is Fun!” and this course should be no different. In fact, it will most likely be the most fun you have ever had in a math class.

BADM 458 - Marketing in European Union

This course will focus on the cultural aspects of marketing in a foreign country. We will review and research the basics before departure and continue our studies in North West England at Edge Hill University. The course is open to all majors. Also, it does not have a prerequisite. We will explore the influence of culture, customs, politics, and legal systems on marketing and business. Local markets for autos, gasoline, food, recreation, and housing will be explored. The focus will be on marketing and the economy of the UK and other countries in the EU.
